♥ Igor and the Velvet Room

The Velvet Room is a mysterious room that can only be reached between 9 PM and 3 AM, much like Yggdrassil, the shadow world. The Velvet Room is a lavishly decorated, blue train compartment, endlessly travelling along the rails.

Visitors to the Velvet Room find themselves sitting across, with a table inbetween, from a seated, small old man with an incredibly long nose and scary, large, bloodshot eyes. This man is Igor, a gentlemanly if utterly mysterious man who seems to awaken or alert people to their ability to use a persona. He visits people in their dreams or can be visited between 9 PM and 3 AM.

Igor, like Beatrice, is an NPC who is in the game to suit a specific purpose. It is assumed that every character who is present at the beginning of the game is visited by Igor in a dream (this dream is accessible from Igor's journal.) His purpose is to sometimes offer helpful plot hints and encouragement in dreams, however...his two most important purposes are something else entirely. Though his reasons for helping are unknown, only Igor can unlock the ability to use a Persona within someone, or unleash their learned potential.

This means that before a dream visit from Igor, a character cannot awaken their persona. After they have a persona, however, and begin to form bonds via social links, they cannot use the abilities learned or even access the basic improvements (like being stronger in magic or defense) without visiting the Velvet Room so he can unlock them.

Remember, don't let your character forget to visit Igor when bonds deepen! Characters do not have to actually thread with Igor to do this, as long as they post to the current unthreaded events thread to announce when he was visited and what was improved.
